Location

The Children’s Village is located in the village of Gobranikura, and Gobranikura is located in Haluaghat which is a subdistrict of the administrative district of Mymensingh in the division of Dhaka. Haluaghat is bordered by the Indian state of Meghalaya on the north.
Haluaghat has a population of 242,000 (1991). Males constitute 50.68 % of the population, and females 49.32 %. Haluaghat’s eighteen up population is 122,000. It has an average literacy rate of 22.8%.
The major religion practiced in Haluaghat is Islam (89.2 %) and sizable minorities adhere to Hinduism (5.0 %) and Christianity (5.7 %). There are 272 mosques, 44 temples and 39 churches in Haluaghat.

The major agricultural products of Haluaghat include rice, jute, wheat, potatos, sweet potatos, mustard seeds, peanuts, vegetables, jackfruits, mangos, bananas, papayas, watermelons and olives.
Haluaghat is most easily reached by bus. Currently the two bus companies Shamoli Bangla Pvt. Ltd. and Imam Trailways Ltd. connect Dhaka to Haluaghat.
